Eastside Women’s Strength Collective Cohort 2024

The Women’s Strength Collective, presented by Poderosa Rising, will empower, develop, and promote BIPOC female entrepreneurship in the Alamo City. This initiative is not just about economic empowerment but also about fostering a supportive and empathetic community. By integrating financial literacy with mental health resources, we acknowledge the unique challenges faced by BIPOC women and aim to provide a holistic support system. We understand that entrepreneurship can be both rewarding and stressful, and our goal is to ensure that every woman feels supported, valued, and understood throughout her journey. Sponsored by the City of San Antonio’s Economic Development Office in partnership with Main Street America Community Builders, this program is dedicated to creating a compassionate environment where dreams can flourish and resilience is nurtured.

The deadline for the Cohort was August 27th, and applications are now closed. Please check back with us for updates on the Cohort and details about next year's application process.

Poderosa Rising is a female centered non-profit founded on mental health, counseling, and therapy resources accessible to all stakeholders in our urban communities. We believe at the intersection of economic and mental health is community activism that invests in aspiring small business dreamers. Our Women’s Strength Collective is an innovative and community-based program that will co-create opportunities for individuals, their families, and neighborhoods.

We are going to select a cohort of BIPOC aspiring entrepreneurs from San Antonio’s East Side and District 2 area. This group should reflect a positive and community orientated mindset that believes anything is possible. To this end, our schedule is flexible, and equity focused with an attitude that teamwork and public service are fundamental to East Side success.

Our program consists of (5) learning days from September to October that focus on economic lessons centering on procurement, business plans and other small business concepts. In addition, mental health lessons will also be interwoven into the daily curriculum to support our organization’s mission. Participants will graduate from our program with a vast litany of resources that prepare them for opportunities with the City of San Antonio and University Health System.
